GOLDEN AGE
We’re kicking off the new year the way we mean to go on. All of our limited edition specials are inspired by our surroundings and give a nod to our heritage as we celebrate our 25th birthday in August. Golden Age uses local honey from Meadow Honey Farm based a stones throw away on Yattendon Estates. Run by husband and wife team Rob & Jo Nickless, Meadow Honey Farm started out as a hobby back in 2006 but with a growing family and a passion for all things bee related, the business has expanded rapidly with around 200 hives now located across Berkshire & Oxfordshire – from meadows by the river Thames, to the heights of the beautiful Berkshire Downs. The honey used in Golden Age imparts a fresh sweetness and floral notes which sit perfectly alongside the citrus and pine like characteristics of American hops.
Bright local honey nuances compliment bold US hop additions, achieving the perfect blend of flavour, aroma and refreshment. Golden in colour with a distinct bitterness and aromas of honey, lemon & pine alongside apricot and zingy pineapple characteristics.
Enjoy together with a hot chilli prawn pho. The crisp citrus notes will cleanse your palate between mouthfuls whilst the bitterness intensifies the heat.
The honey chosen to go into Golden Age was produced a stones throw away on Yattendon Estates and taken from the hives in May 2019. The bees will have collected nectar from blackthorn, hawthorn, oil seed rape, willow and dandelions amongst other plants in the local area which all impart a beautifully soft flavour into the beer.
Meadow Honey Farm provides pollination services, beekeeping courses plus local honey and beeswax products. Rob & Jo are members of the Bee Farmers Association and their premises are rated as very good by the Food Standards Agency.
