If you don’t like bread and/or beer you’ve come to the wrong place. If you’ve got no Mild to hand, you can substitute for Good Old Boy or Mister Chubb’s.

 

Makes 1 loaf.

 

Ingredients:

500g Strong Flour

15g Salt

55ml Olive Oil

20g Fresh Yeast

275ml WBB Maggs’ Mild

 

METHOD

  1. Slightly warm the beer up to about 30 degrees C, add the yeast and mix until dissolved.
  2. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl or mixer. If using a mixer, jump to instruction 4.
  3. Knead well with your hands and knuckles until the dough is elastic, smooth and shiny.
  4. Cover with cling film and leave to rise for an hour.
  5. Line a baking tin with baking parchment and mould the dough into a round. Place on tin.
  6. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees C, then leave the dough to rise for a further 30 minutes-1 hour.
  7. Place in the over for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, tap the bottom with your knuckles – if it sounds hollow. it’s ready!
  9. Cool on wire rack.
