Shaun is the Head Chef at WBB’s Taproom and Kitchen. In the past he’s earned Two Rosettes and has ranked in the top 50 Gastro Pubs (and the top 25 Roasts) in the UK during his time at The Pot Kiln. So, it’s fair to say a trip to WBB doesn’t only have to be about the beer!

How long have you been at WBB?

I’ve been here for nearly 3 years now.


What’s your favourite dish ever served at the Taproom, and why?

Got to be the Katsu burger!! Who doesn’t love an epic bit of fried chicken in a bun?


What would you like to see on the menu soon?

Loved the tacos idea, so stay updated on that one!

I will be trying out half a brick chicken once we’re open again, so looking forward to seeing how that one goes down, I’m sure you’ll all love it!


What is your favourite thing about working for WBB?

Beer allowance, of course! No, seriously I would have to say the team I’ve got around me! Great bunch of guys and girls.


What is your funniest WBB memory?

This would have to be myself after a few too many pints at the Newbury Weekly News Awards… I ended up heckling David Bruce! Embarrassing for me of course… Oops!


If you weren’t a chef, what would you be doing?

No idea at all!


Your favourite style of beer, (and your favourite pint of all time?)

Love a good Pale ale (Detour)!

But, my favourite pint of all time is a good old pint of Guinness.


Other than cooking, what are your main hobbies/ interests?

Love listening to some good tunes and watching football.


How have you been keeping busy during lockdown?

Not done too much this time round, I’m looking forward to a bit of better weather though!


What is your favourite takeaway?

Got to be a Chinese!


Best place you’ve ever travelled to and why does this place stick in your memory?

So many to mention! Loved Australia and Thailand.
